Leadership Training Camp
Larchaven Leadership Training Camp
Dates: August 4-8 & August 30-September 2, 2024
We are excited to offer Larchaven Leadership Training again this summer! Leadership Training is for campers entering grades 10-12 who want to develop their leadership skills, strengthen their faith, and learn camp counseling skills. Leadership Training will take place alongside our two other camp offerings: Overnight Camp and Family & Friends Camp. The dates are August 4-8 and August 30-September 2, 2024. Attendance at both camp sessions is required.
Leadership Training takes place over 2 summers and is an opportunity for older campers to take on a counselor-in-training role. Campers will be mentored by leadership training staff, participate in leadership lessons, complete leadership requirements, and lead various camp activities. The program is structured to build leadership skills through a variety of activities and experiences, which will help campers fulfill Leadership Training requirements. At the end of each summer, we will have a Leadership Training Graduation to celebrate the learning and accomplishments of our LLT campers.
Larchaven Leadership Training (LLT) is designed for campers who not only want to become camping leaders, but camping leaders with Larchaven values and goals. One of these values is following Jesus. Another important value is inclusiveness. At LLT, campers will practice spiritual disciplines including, Bible study, prayer, sharing faith with others, leading worship and serving others. Although we encourage campers to come with their doubts and fears and questions, we do expect LLT campers to desire to grow closer to God: Creator, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. LLT is designed for campers who are in agreement with the Statement of Faith, treat each camper’s beliefs with sensitivity, and support Larchaven’s aim to be inclusive with regard to gender identity and sexual orientation.
Larchaven's working Statement of Faith is the Apostles Creed.
I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
Accommodations: This year, Larchaven has “boys” cabins and “girls” cabins. We acknowledge that these designations may not best describe your camper. Our cabins have an expectation of modesty with private changing areas provided for campers and staff. Each cabin has two staff members to best meet the needs of each camper. Your camper may find other campers in their cabin identify as trans, non-binary, or gender diverse. You are welcome to contact us with questions at camp@larchaven.org.
